Untamed, Unspoilt, UNPRETENTIOUS.

The Ship Inn is perfectly located for you to explore the myriad world-class sights in this part of Gippsland. Many of our guests stay with us as a base to visit Wilsons Promontory, but they are always shocked to see what lies on the other side of Yarram. Compare the crowds at the Prom to the soothing solitude of any given day on Ninety Mile Beach. Breathe in the fresh air of Tarra Bulga National Park, knowing that you’re sharing it mostly with the lyrebirds. Get a Melbourne-quality coffee with country-quality warmth at a price that makes it easy to spoil yourself by adding a piece of home-made cake.

Tarra Bulga National Park

The 1,500-hectare national park is less than half an hour away from the Ship Inn Motel in the eastern part of the Strzelecki Ranges. The park is home to indigenous eucalyptus, mountain ash forests, ferns and Myrtle Beech as well as a considerable collection of native animals. There are walking tracks for all experience levels as well as a visitor centre, suspension bridge, and cafes. Famous for its lyrebirds, you should always have your camera ready.

Ninety Mile Beach

The Ninety Mile Beach is a sandy stretch of beach just over 151 kilometres (94 mi) in length, running north-eastward from a spit near Port Albert to the man-made channel at Lakes Entrance. You can access this gorgeous span of unspoiled beach in numerous places close to the Ship Inn Motel. Just tell Paul or Jodie what experience you’re looking for and they’ll suggest which beach will be a perfect fit.

Wilsons Promontory

Wilsons Promontory National Park, more commonly called "the Prom", contains the largest coastal wilderness area in Victoria. Less than an hour from the Ship Inn Motel, we’re a great home base for exploring the always busy Prom. The only settlement within Wilsons Promontory is Tidal River, which lies 30 kilometres south of the park boundary and is the focus for tourism and recreation.

Village Life

Cosy cafes for morning moods, local producers for tasty foods, unique shops for browsing, locally-sourced wine bars for carousing. The villages dotted around the area are ripe for discovery during your stay in Yarram’s Ship Inn Motel. Try the fishing in Port Albert, see the white wooden church in Tarraville, watch the footy in Woodside, or walk along the Rail Trail to Alberton for a counter meal.
