Emeritus Professor John Mulvaney
 Professor John Mulvaney, otherwise known as the "Father of Australian Archaeology", was born in Yarram in 1925 and was the first university trained prehistorian to undertake archaeological research into Australia's vast Aboriginal history.
The Ship Inn Motel would like to acknowledge Professor Mulvaney's outstanding contribution to Australian archaeology, to academic discipline, and to public awareness and cultural heritage management in Australia. The work undertaken by Professor Mulvaney has had a lasting impact on archaeological research in Australia, and to this day he serves as a mentor and source of inspiration for each new generation of archaeologists.  here
